Hussein Chalayan spring 2003 'Absence and Presence' Tyvek Jeans

Sold out

Spring 2003 was Hussein's first menswear collection which contained T-shirts that could transform into A3 envelopes and be posted. Chalayan identified his garments by referring to the “BY AIR MAIL” postal pieces created for 1998. These jeans were exclusive to a prototype concept store called 'Via Bus Stop' in Shinjuku in the early 00's. The jeans are made of the highest quality in the world, being Japanese denim with distressed Tyvek sewn to the outer seams. Tyvek is a synthetic fibre made of high-density polyethylene and commonly used in postage envelopes in order to protect the inside-goods due to its rip-resistance properties. It's also used in construction to cover unfinished builds. This correlates with his infatuation with architectonic fashion. Made in Japan Excellent condition (distressing part of design). (waist 39.5-40cm x 2, rise 21cm, inseam 81cm, leg width 24-25cm)
