Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2000 Silk Falbalas Dress
$2,650.00 AUD
A zany pop-art psychelic watercolour print of faces from french film 'Paris Frills' (Falbalas) from spring 2000. Gaultier was always referencing theater and art in his designs and was particularly inspired by old French cinema and the icons that were featured in them such as Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf to name a couple. The dress is constructed in a draped deformed way, slanted in an a-smmetric form with a ruched and shirred circular hole situated on the hip on one side exposing the skin.
This is how Gaultier adds playful elements to his garments to elevate the design and create a more flattering sexy silhouette. The fabric is in a more exclusive and exquisite slightly transparent silk with a subtle rippled texture. Gaultier's printed garments are usually made in printed power-net mesh, but not in this case.
