This dress comes from one of Kawakubo's more feminine collections entitled 'Flowering Clothes' presented in an anachronistic boxing ring–like setting. This dress has a slight monastic appearance to it in the way it drapes, from an a-symmetric slant to one side, which is a quintessential subtle touch often made by the designer. The velvet floral fabric attached around the dress circumference resembles a traditional obi worn by geisha/maiko, and adds additional volume and depth to the garment, making it drape a particular way.
