Thierry Mugler Fall 1986-1987 Leather Dress
Sold out
An incredibly rare and exquisite leather dress in a quintessential Muglerian silhouette, with a military aesthetic, created around the time whereby communism was prevalent throughout Europe at the time. By no means was Manfred aiming to romanticise the political movement, but perhaps indirectly protesting it. Jean Paul Gaultier's infamous 'Russian Constructivist' collection was showcased around the same time which displayed propaganda motifs. Manfred previously worked with Claude Montana, which marks itself as an obvious thing in this particular garment. With the use of leather, the consistent exaggerated military silhouettes aimed at empowering the female body with the cinched waist and bulbous padded shoulders. One for the true collector.
